I have a friend of mine who refers to Netscape as Net-Scrap! But then, when these occasional viruses start taking advantage of that breach in security that Outlook boasts of...then, I sit back and laugh!!
While I must admit that the features provided by Netscapes email client--Netscape Messenger--pale in front of those offered by Microsofts Outlook, there is something about Netscape that makes me feel comfortable. Maybe I am like that old man in the Paints ad that is aired on TV these days, who makes excuses for prefering to have chuna (lime) on the walls of his house...!!
Netscape Messenger is a simple, no-nonsense email client...and hey, now now...I know you will think I am stealing heynownows words (read an earlier review). But indeed, I feel the same way. HeyNowNow provides more details about this software. I am, therefore, not going to repeat what he has said (And he has said it well too!). However, there are only two aspects that I wish to dwell on--
1. its simplicity and ease-of-use, and
2. its non-prone-ness to viruses!
You must have heard of/experienced the spate of attacks that worried Outlook users, where the virus automatically sent itself to all the users in the Outlook Address Book, Netscape does no such thing!! And there were several such viruses in the last year or so! Perhaps it is a blessing to be simple after all!!
