Viva Las Vegas

We all have heard about Vegas ’’A must-see’’! So, we finally decided on going to the proverbial land. There are secrets to the best way of getting there, getting around and entertainment!!! We, me and my husband, were on a budget of $2000(including airfare& hotel) for 5 days. We were flying from the east coast in March which is a peak season because of Spring Break, hence the expensive tickets!!! For the hotel, we went for a hotel on the strip, Excalibur opposite MGM Grand. About the hotel, there is nothing much to write home about but it was clean, spacious and prompt service!

Our first two days were mainly spent on the strip...taking tours of all the different hotels. The place is a mecca for gambling but besides that the architecture of different hotels/ casinos is mind-blowing. From gondola-rides in the canal which wraps around the Venetian to the magical interiors of the Caesar’s Palace and to sit in one of the little Italian cafe’ and watch the world go by...it was just amazing to think what the human mind could come up with and create! Not to miss, the fountain show outside Bellagio!!!

The city is full of live shows in the evenings...we did check out the topless show of ’Jubilee’. I found Jubilee over-rated, wasn’t impressed with it and not worth the money. On the other hand, ’Zumanity’ another side of Cirque du Soleil was excellent, it had a contemporary vibe with sexual undertones and superb acrobatics!

The third day, we took a helicopter ride to the west rim of Grand Canyon, we flew low over Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Colorado River and upclose in the Canyons. Stopped for lunch in the middle of nowhere and were escorted by an American Indian....the whole experience was great! The fourth day, we took off to an Outlet Mall...20 miles off the strip...the shuttle is available...check with your hotel! I don’t think I would have done the trip any differently.

Vegas is advertised as a family vacation also but I would not suggest for the young impressionable minds...in the end, big money does talk but you can stretch ur dollar in that city!
