Every places have their positive and negative points. I am writing a honest review of what I experienced in Delhi. It may be possible that I have come across most of the negative things and very less Positive things. So, if any die hard fan of Delhi wants to criticise for me this.....you are most welcome....
Its been more than 8 months since I have been in Delhi. Initially I was there for a month in a Hotel in Paharganj, near New Delhi Station which is very crowded and not so clean. It wasnt raining and atmosphere was too hot when I came. It was pain for me to go from hotel to my office on Asaf Ali Road. I never expected National Capital to be like this and thought that shifting to Delhi can be a wrong decision.Everywhere on road you find beggars and drug addicts. In beginning I saw every thing negative here and almost nothing positive. I was used to perfect and timely travel of local trains in Mumbai, and Delhi seemed to be in disarray.
People in my office were very co operative and courteous. I thought that it must be only in this office. But after meeting few of my clients and other people I came to know that most of the people in Delhi are like this. Whenever colleagues or friends meet after a gap of week or more, then they embrace each other. Now this was something very touching for a person like me who has spent most of the time in a hardcore commercial and materialistic world. The atmosphere in office was very good and people very humble. I went to a party of my friend. The people over there talked and enjoyed.Their emotions were genuine....you can make out. When they laugh...they laugh with their heart.Everything is genuine.
But the lower class of people which you meet on road are totally opposite and worst.Dont ever get in to fight with a autorickshaw people and peddlars. They are ever ready to fight.Every now and then when you move on road or travel in a bus, you find people giving amazing bad words, with full proficiency as if they are giving bad words right from their school days.
The educated class of people are very humble and helpful, but the lower middle and lower class of people are worst.
Then I shifted to Vivekanandpuri. I used to catch bus from Asaf Ali Road to go to my home via Karol Bagh. This area is notorious for bad traffic. That was thing which I was used to. The good thing in Delhi is that the roads are very wide and on both sides of road are footpaths for people. And unlike Mumbai you wont find huts and illegal shops on these footpaths.Later I shifted to Gurgaon near IFFCO Chowk on M G Road. Now this place is out of Delhi but can be considered as a part of it. This is a best place. The malls around my place are cool and even better the ones in Mumbai. There are lots of young people around here.
Something about atmosphere.....
Atmosphere is too harsh here. Both Summer and Winter. Outsiders can cope winter but summer is horrible. Its too hot. Winters are very cool. Sometimes night temperature falls below 5 degrees( this common for Delhites). And cool winds are torturous. My flat is on 6th floor and winds enter fromall the possible openings. I brought 2 room heaters which were able to mitigate the problem. If you plan to visit Delhi during Dec and Jan, then see to it that you have adequate stock of warm clothes.
Food is wonderful and cheap here. If you are not much hygiene conscious then go to Delhi gate and try Samosas, Gol Gappas, Bread Pakodas, Chole bhature and what not. I was introduced to this food culture by my friend. But dont eat too much street foods.Have only once a week(that too not often).
