New Moon

The next book in line in the Twilight Saga after Twilight is New Moon. When Bella visits Edward’s family on her birthday, she accidentally cuts her hand with a letter opener while opening her gift, she narrowly escapes death and Edward realizes how dangerous this relationship could be for her. So he disappears from Bella’s life saying’it would be as if I never existed.’ But love is not so easy to forget, is it? Bella is shattered and pulls foolish and dangerous stunts in the hopes of seeing him. This is the time where Jacob really takes care of her and starts falling in love with her. Edward realizes his life is not worth living without Bella, so he tries to kill himself by offending the Volturi. Can love win over all the obstacles?

New Moon was not as action-packed and exciting as Twilight. Also Edward was sorely missing in the larger chunk of the book, which was very disappointing. This book has more focus on Jacob who becomes a werewolf and the werewolves and the vampires are old enemies of each other, and Bella is the connecting link between them.

This book too has many memorable lines which makes it a good read and an unforgettable love story.

"Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars, points of light and reason. .And then you shot across my sky like a meteor." - Edward

"If I let myself hope, and it came to nothing… that would kill me. Where all those merciless vampires had not been able to finish me off, hope would do the job." - Bella

"Edward was here, with his arms around me. I could face anything as long as that was true. I squared my shoulders and walked forward to meet my fate, with my destiny solidly at my side." - Bella

And so the book has its wow moments too. Not too great in the storyline but insightful on life’s difficulties and memorable in terms of characters.
