Had the worst experience today at New Theater, Trivandrum. Booked online for the 4.30 pm show, Dawn of Justice. When we reached there we got the first shock, cos even those who had booked online were supposed to stand in a queue with everyone else who hadn’t pre-booked.
But, isn’t that why we book online with an added convenience fee before we get to the venue, so we don’t have to stand in the serpentine queue? Not to mention that the lobby doesn’t even have fans, in this sweltering heat! After we sweat it out in the overcrowded lobby for half an hour, the rude staff of the theater marched us(more than 50) upstairs where according to them, the tickets were being issued.
Then after 20 more minutes of sweating it out in there, we were marched back down again to wait, not to get tickets, but to wait again! After all that exercise and sauna experience, we got impatient, at 5.10pm, naturally, and asked the staff what the issue was, at first they tried to brush it off saying it will start soon, but we did not let go, we asked for an explanation, and finally they relented rather rudely, that the movie was yet to load completely via the satellite download.
We asked why they did not let us know of this well in advance!? Which theater starts downloading a movie just minutes before it is scheduled to start!? Atrocious management or rather, mismanagement on their part. We then wanted to lodge a formal complaint with their higher management and the staff simply refused to give us any contact number or name. Disgusted with the nonchalant attitude of the staff, and the long wait in the miserable summer heat, Rahul and I realized that we should have given New Theater a miss and out we walked! Our date with Superman and Batman will have to wait! It’s sad that the’movie going’ experience in Trivandrum is so appalling.
