The Hamptons New York

Hamptons Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, almost...

’’The Hamptons’’ on Eastern Long Island is located on the south eastern tip of Long Island, also known as the South Fork of Long Island. ’’The Hamptons’’ is perceived by most people as the playground of celebrities and ’’old money.’’ However, the area is easily accessible and affordable to tourists. The area stretches from Westhampton/Southampton to East Hampton/Montauk and offers great beaches and parks, fine cuisine, and intimate bed and breakfasts.

The best time to visit would either be around Christmas or during the summers when the beaches are at their best! Personally, I prefer the serenity of the winter months when tourism isn’t as prevalent in the area. It’s like visiting Paris around August-September when the Parisians go on holiday. You basically have the town to yourself.

If you’re interested in staying at a multi-million dollar Southampton Estate, visit ’’ http://www.abutlersmanor.com’’. The owner is a famous English Butler with his own book. This past Christmas, I had the pleasure of being at this bed and breakfast for ’’Boxing Day, ’’ a British holiday tradition filled with great food, drink, and company. It was a blast!

Another area I discovered is the North Fork of Eastern Long Island. This area is rich with wineries and wild preserves. For those of you who hunt, visit Wickham’s Farm in Cutchogue. The owners, Dan and Prudence Heston, offer quail and duck hunting and fishing on their land which is the largest privately own preserves on Long Island.

Pros

Lots of Activities, Fine Dining, Wineries, Charter Boats, Intimate Bed and Breakfasts

Cons

You have to fly in to one of the New York area airports, e.g. LaGuardia, JFK, Newark, McAuthor. I recommend flying into McAuthor (Islip) which is only 30 minutes away from the ’’East End.’’
