15 years old and still going strong !!

New Yorker at Chowpatty is one the best restaurants we have in South Bombay - simple for 2 reasons:

  1. Its value for money food, ie 2 people can have a good meal in Rs 300-400.

  2. Its one of the few vegetarian joints which is preferred by the non-veggies as well !!

The restaurant is a bit small to handle its constant rush (that itself is an indicator about the food!!). The lack of space also gives a very noisy atmosphere to the restuarant (now is a good time to hear what your girlfriend has to say about you to others). But the service is quick and the food more than makes up for anything else.

Try the Nachos (which is tortilla chips dripped in melted cheese) or the Beans Tacos (an all-time favoruite). Even their baked potato dishes and enchiladas are good and the quantity is enough to make sure you skip dinner.

However, the assorted platters, select lebanese food (yeh, they have ’em too) and the pizzas can be passed over for better stuff.

In deserts, they have the sinful sizzling brownies with vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce - so make sure you book some space for it in your tummy. The cold coffee and lime ice sodas are als worth a try.

All in all its a place worth checking out at least once. I did that almost 12 years ago and have been going ever since !!
