Cool, Really Cool

Flashback to the late seventies... parties, discos and dance floors were grooving to the sound of this brilliant album. The then young generation were presented with sounds like they had never heard before. The talking guitar, for example, which welcomes listeners aboard the Nightflight To Venus. The steady throbbing drum pattern that sets the tone for the title track. And the brilliant vocals.

This album was a gem! Right from the cover design to the songs, the arrangements, the performances... brilliant!

This was a band that, in particular, made fascinating use of the bass guitar, the electric rhythm guitar and drums. No programming nonsense in those days... every instrument was backed by a hardworking musician who actually played every note that you hear on the album.

Boney M were always known for their excellent vocals/choruses and you can hear a lot of these on the album. Nightflight To Venus features some wonderful cover versions like King of The Road, Heart of Gold and Rivers of Babylon. My personal favourites are, of course, the hardcore Boney M tracks like Nightflight To Venus, Rasputin and He Was A Steppenwolf. Another cool track on this album is Never Change Lovers In The Middle Of The Night... interesting concept, huh?
