Ditto remakes being order of the day hitting the Tamil industry , Gemini film circuit with Sun Pictures and G.N.Kumaravelan a debutant director have taken a wiser decision to present an movie where in the plot is adapted from LalJoses classmates which was made in malayalam 4 odd years back and prithiviraj played the lead along with Kavya madhavan. Plot : Shiva( prithiviraj) is on a flight for a reunion of sorts of the 2000 batch chemistry graduates of his college.. The journey gives him the time to think back all the nostalgic sweet and bitter memories of his days in college.. Shiva , Meera ( Priayamani). satki( Shakthi) , Bala(Vishnu priyan) , karthik( Jeeva) , Vasu( karthik kumar) all are classmates at National arts college in there final year.. and Its 8 long years since shiva leaves college and is on his way for the reunion organised by sakthi, s dad ( K.Bhagayaraj) who has contributed in starting a musical library in memory of his son sakthi who passes away in the final year at college ..
Shivas relationship with Vasu has never been sweet in the past who in a way is responsible for the bitterness and the relationship break with Meera in the past. However this reunion everyone of the 2000 batch is present with there family and so is Meera along with vasu and Karthik who shared the bitter past with shiva.. The Reunion goes off well and over the dinner hosted Meera who is still in love with shiva decides to meet him in his room for one last time and talk out the differences..Even as she enters the room she is shocked to find Shiva strangled in his room ... Not knowing whether it was sucide or homicide attempt Bhagayaraj who is organising the event decides to kind of investigate the turnup of events, talking to the friends around , leading to the shocking revelations which is crux of ninathaleinikkum..
performance : Prithiviraj has matured with his performances over the years , Karthikumar looks apt as vasu , Jeeva has been a given a larger scope to perform than his prior films.Shakthi looks good and plays the softspoken common friend gives a decent performance.Priayamani as the daughter of the MLA gets the chemistry working with prithiviraj goind however the character doesnt give her much scope to such a talented actress. Bhagayaraj as the friendly dad is impressive.. Highlights would be the Cinematography by Balasubramaniam whch is a visual treat .. the manner in which he has captured the songs is breaththaking.. Vijay antony has given us with songs that are refreshingly new .. Alagaay puthathe is melodious .. nanbanai partha is involving as well..overall a good album with the right mix of songs ...However alagaay puthathe is really haunting and kind of the best things for the movie .. no wonder you dont get to see the videos on television still...
pluses : Movie captures the moods of the campus and classmates well.. songs go well with the plot.. Theres is a nice touch when shakti speaks his mind and the value of friendship when shiva and vasu have a fight .. Theres another nice touch when The warden speaks about friends and college life to Vasu.. Also the final nail in the coffin comes when Bhagayaraj spreads the message that vengence does not justify neutralising a mistake already committed..
Costumes used in songs are a visual treat.. and Balasubramaniam is brilliant with his camera.The plot takes you through the sudden twists in the story and prolonge the sudden suspense that is created is decent enough to keep the audience involved is a good ploy..
Minuses : Sudden Romance between shiva and meera looks weak perhaps the movie was foccused on friendship they could have thought of an existing relationship with there regards, The director plays around with just three professors the principal, the chemistry professor and the warden in such a big college gets a bit amateurish.There are no portions which shows the strong friendship between sakthi and vasu which laters creates an impact in the mind of vasu even as sakthi passes away. Too many flashbacks ..
verdict : Ninathale inikkum is not all that sweet .. it carries a lot of bitter memories of the past .. however the message is clear that college is the best phase of life in a persons life and the friendship you make there lasts a life time and captures your nostalic best memories .. Kumaravelan has however done a reasonable job for a debutant director to present a plot with such conviction .. ninathale inikkum is a good watch barring in mind its an adapted version and people start relating it to the orginal versions.. however the script is handled differently and trust me the last 20 odd minutes impresses..
