Okay! So heres my review for my 4 months old Nissan Terrano.
To begin with I must state that Terrano was not my original choice. I was looking for a compact SUV and zeroed upon Renault Duster and almost bought it before Terrano came into the picture. I waited for it to hit the roads and checked features/specifications, compared it with Duster numerous times before finally taking the decision to buy it. I made the booking for 85 BHP top model, sometime in last week of Jan 2014 and was told that it would take a week or so to deliver it. And thus started my agony, suffering, anguish etc etc. Anyways, being from Mohali, punjab I had no choice but to buy the car from one and only dealer in Chd./Mohali i.e. HIND MOTORS, industrial area, Chandigarh.
So, a week passed and no follow up calls from the dealer and no information about the delivery of the vehicle. Finally, I called after 10 days to know the whereabouts of my new car. They asked me several questions before they pulled up the required information and told me that it would take another week or so. Alas! I had no option but to wait. I called them again after a week and went through lot of interrogation before coming to know that it would take another 10-15 days.
Anyways, that continued for another week or so and I finally got the delivery of my car around the last week of Feb. Wow, was I excited or what. I had in front of me, the car I have been looking in pictures for more than 6 months, checking every detail in terms of specifications and features, finally I owned it.
So, the first drive from the dealer to my home was good. Loved the height I was sitting at, almost nil cabin noise and satisfactory interiors. But that happiness was short lived because in about 2-3 weeks time it started giving some squeaking noise from the right back side door. I checked for noise in the boot, made sure doors were properly closed etc etc but the noise continued. Thus, I took it to the dealer and told theService Advisor about the problem. Haha his reply was just awesome, the gentleman said "Sir, this is very normal and such noise comes from every Terrano so we have to live with it" Live with it? Are you kidding me? You mean to say I spent 10-12 lakhs and within a month I have this terrible irritating noise from the car and I HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT. Arghhhh.I still asked him to at least check it, he took the car in the garage and came back saying the noise should be less now. I took the car back but the NOISE WAS STILL THE SAME AND EVEN MORE IRRITATING.
As I had to go out of station for few days so I decided to get back to the dealer upon my return. Thereafter, got busy with work and finally got the time this week to go to the dealer again. I met the sameService Advisor and explained him the whole problem again. Also, reminded him what he told me last time that it wasNormal. Well, thank god this time he took a road test and heard the noise himself and got the noise issue fixed.
Okay! So, here are some of thePros andCons of Nissan Terrano that I have experienced so far:
Let me talk about the Pros cos Ive heard we should start with theGood Things first. wink wink!
Satisfactory interiors.
Satisfactory pickup(in plains) and suspension.
Very less cabin noise.
Good turning radius.
Good average.(I usually get 17 kmpl in city with AC)
Alright, now we talk about the CONS.
Substandard plastics.(This you might not be able to judge by the first look, as they say looks are deceptive). Its only after driving it for a month or so that you start hearing different noises indicating some plastics have gotten lose.
Poooooor^100 service.(Here I am talking about my dealer, others might be lucky if their dealers are good)
Leg space for rear passengers is almost the same as any Hatchback car.
AC cooling is not very effective and the air noise from the vents is very loud specially when the blower is on number 3 or 4.
Not very smooth drive in hilly areas. You have to change gears too frequently.
