The best entry level nokia phone

If you are looking for a very basic, no-frills phone with good build quality, this is the one.I’ve Got this one after my nokia 7370 was mugged(oh I miss that baby!). Many of you have seen the ads: ’’jago india jago’’ for the 1110, but I found the alarm clocks to be nothing out of usual(apart from the talking alarm, which is not an earth shattering thing). Lets get to review then.

This is almost identical to the hugely successfull 1100 model. The battery is very good-- I get 5+ days milage with light to moderate amount of talking.

The display of the phone is inverted--i.e. bright greenish fonts on dark background. Looks rather cool. I have read many people complaining about not being able to see the screen on sunlight--but I had no such problem, even directly under an april midday sun.

the software is almost identical to 1100 , 3310 etc. but unlike 3310, there is no number shortcut for any menu item. there is a ’’go to’’ key, but you can set shortcuts for selected items only.

A big bonus is the ’’timed profile’’ option. You can set the silent profile & also tell the phone to convert to general profile automtically after a certain time. I use the silent profile heavily & found this option to be very convenient.

the keyboard is a bit cluttered, it has 8 control keys apart from the 12 numerical keys, which is a bit too much for such a small sized phone. 6 control keys would have been better.

The ringtones are ’mp3 grade’ polyphonic, sounds nice & clear. the ringtones gallery has 35 tunes, some of them are really nice. the voice reception is clear, network capability awesome(its a nokia, remember). Games are ok, but I dont really like the new version of snake, the 3310 snake was better.

There is no flashlight in this phone.

Overall, this is a very good entry level phone. I would prefer it over the nokia 1600--even if 1600 has color screen, it is so pixelated that 1110 screen looks better in comparison. If you are ok with no GPRS, your satisfaction with 1110 is guaranteed.
