I recently sold my trusted Nokia 2300 to upgrade to a swanky new 6030... And I must say I miss that handset a bit...
Brought into the market 5 years ago, the 2300 has long been Nokia’s trusted handset for the ordinary hoi polloi... Be it the student crowd, or elders, CEOs or taxi drivers, the 2300 has seen and faced them all....
When I first bought this cell a little ovr a year ago, I did so for its polyphonic ringtones and the nice whte display, a sea change from the terrible green of the Nokia 3315 which is the most popular Nokia handset ever....
Initially I loved it like my life and took great care of it... Until the day a nasty scratch got onto it... Since then, my 2300 had seen and experienced a lot of situations...
The Nokia 2300 is a very versatile, compact handset, with all features one can possibly require... In these days when people are going in for swankier models because of looks and colour displays, it may be surprising but true that the 2300 has many features that people raise eyebrows at....
One of them being an amazing battery backup of 4 days with good use, for a cell of its time... Nokia got it right in the talktime stakes... One can talk for 4 hours on end, and then reboot for a short while more, in which time one can attach the charger and continue....
The display of the 2300 is clear and distinct and is so bright that it can be used like a torch in the night... And the eye strain factor is minimal except when its pitch dark... The writing is clear and large enough to make out at some distance...
The weight of the handset is good as itis pretty light compared to its current white screen competition....
The radio is good once the frequency is set manually... It catches even a very weak signal with amazing clarity pretty far outside the designated radius...
The quality of the handsfree is very good though it lacks a volume control feature which would make it completely so...
All in all, the 2300 is an exceptional performer and although now out of production, the service support will go on for years....
To conclude I’d say I miss the simplicity of my cell a lot....
