Nokia 3.1 Plus comes paired with 2/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage with a reliable MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core processor that powers through day-to-day tasks, less-demanding games and moderate multi-tasking. While thumbing through the UI on Nokia 3.1 Plus, the performance was pretty good with no signs of discernible lags or heating issues and overall it was a smoother experience than I expected, belying the fact that it’s using a mid-range MediaTek CPU.
I didn’t seem to encounter any force-closed apps but there were mild stutters when playing graphic- intensive 3D games like Asphalt or PUBG. Nevertheless, I was still able to run them on lower graphics, and for the most part, they were playable. So, while this is not exactly a gaming phone, albeit certain lightweight games were executed without any hiccups, the performance is steady and fairly paced when it comes to streaming videos, browsing the web or social media handles, multi-tasking and processing other software applications. With a battery at 3500mAh, the performance is lasting and sometimes even more than a day without having to top up after moderate use.
On the storage front, I’d definitely urge you to opt for the 32GB variant because 16GB is just not enough for Android phones nowadays, even if it has microSD card expansion alternatives. Opting for the higher version of Nokia 3.1 Plus is certainly advisable as you will need the extra space.
