I was breaking my head weather to go for a GSM connection so that I can have my own phone or go for CDMA and stick with the ones reliance had. Commonsense prevailed and I had to choose reliance because most of my friends and cousins had reliance and it worked out cheaper (phone + activation for 4700)…
My specs were quite clear..
color phone
speaker
long battery life
organizer w/ alarms
polyphonic ringtones
Separate pic and ringer profiles for people
Things I wasn’t too particular
Camera(I already had a Sony digital camera)
FM radio (FM station not good in Hyderabad)
MP3 player (Have PC @ home and office)
Bluetooth (did not feel the need as on date)
Pros :
I found that Nokia 3105 suited my needs and off course my pocket. I have been using it since last 3 months. It’s very nice. Especially the profiles like meeting, pager, silent which change the phone settings in press of a button. Very useful for me when I am in meetings or in loud areas or while I am driving.
The best part is the speaker phone, I need not hold the phone when I am driving in the car or working on my PC. Just switch on the speaker mode and you can talk while you work/drive. You can set separate ringtones and pictures based on the caller.
I have brought a DKU5 cable and I can synchronize my PC and phone. Download ringtones , pictures, contact information to and from my phone.
Battery life is very good. I take 10 to 15 calls of 2 to 3 minutes per day and need to charge it once every 3 days. If the usage is more may be once in 2 days. But I can live with that.
Cons :
Unable to install new java applications like games or utilities.
No way to increase the speaker volume.(basic option, Nokia guys are you listening)
Verdict :
Overall I would rate the phone 8/10 for the features vs price. This is a no nonsense phone for normal users. Lets say an Hero Honda splendor , you get for what you pay. But if you want your phone to do more than this like take pictures, play MP3’s and do crazy stuff , stay away and spend 10K and get a Nokia 6600(GSM users) or some equivalent CDMA phone..
Hope this review helps...
