I have never attempted a review in this category before, why, well because I am pants with anything techy. Yes I know I work in IT but that means tiddlysquat when you are a daydreaming dolly bird like me. But I did desperately want to write about my nifty new(ish) phone, its fabulous and looks real swish but I guess you wanna know the important stuff don’t you!
Well its available to all of you people who live in Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific and weighs a feathery light 133g (with standard battery). My phones dimensions are (no I didn’t measure I read on the box) 133 x 48 x 22 mm, 97cc. There is between two and half and four and a half hours talk time, which is not really enough for me, but I am assured it is quite satisfactory to most normal people. Standby time is 55 – 260 h. Phew techy stuff over, now time for the reasons why I love my new phone.
WAP
Now I know as well as everybody else that WAP is a little crap, but it does have some uses and has saved me from several scrapes, including getting train times so I managed to get back home before anyone knew I was missing (long story). Big brother alerts, I defy anyone who says that these are not important, getting cinema times when the newspaper is missing or you are already on the road, getting a number for pizza! OK not life threatening but still quite useful.
Animated Screen savers
These are really cute and make people go ooh! You can get new ones from the Nokia web site, which is fab. When the phone is not in use the screensaver jumps into life and you can have snakes slithering round your screen or scary eyes blinking.
vibra feature
This is a very useful feature, especially if like me you have really sad ring tones (mine is “when you wish upon a star”) you can get a little buzz in your pocket before its starts to ring, to save you from any embarrassing moments. If you switch it on when playing games its buzzes when aliens hit you on space impact which I think is a pretty cool touch!
Predictive text input
This is excellent if you are manic text sender like myself, this is the only way I can keep in touch with my mates whilst at work without nosy people listening in on my conversations. You can type in your messages double quick time as it predicts what you are going to type before you finish, it takes some getting used to but when you get the hang of it you will never be able to go back. Also when you send texts you don’t have to worry about how long they are because the Nokia 3330 makes it easy by automatically connecting up to three text messages.
Voice Dialling
I love this, basically this phone has a feature where you can program in your numbers by voice so you say the name and it dials it for you. This is so lazy but useful if you have your hands full of shopping bags and cant be bothered to flick through all the numbers.
New games
There are two new games on this phone, Space Impact, which is your run of the mill spaceship shoot em down and bumper which is a pinball machine. I don’t play the games very often, just when I’m waiting for a train (actually that is often) but I am so glad that they decided to add these new ones because snakes was getting oh so tiresome. Space Impact is the best one and can get a little addictive.
Xpress on Covers
If you get bored of your little phones look and think he needs a bit of a spruce up you can change the back and the front of these smashing phones and make them look ultra cool. You can also get new covers to match your outfits (if you really are that sad, ahem).
Well these are the reasons why I love the Nokia 3330, there are load of other things that are cool, like the chat messaging, ringtone composer etc.. but I don’t really use these features so you will have to find out about these yourself, if you buy one that is!
