I bought this phone in Aug 2003. Mobile phones were not as common then, as they are today. Color Screens were new, and this phone costed me around 7500 (in Hyderabad).
I have been using this phone since then, I am still using it.. and I could summarize my experience with this phone in one word - SATISFIED. No problems of hardware, software... It has dried in the sun and taken the brunt of the Indian Monsoons, But it still stands tall, upholding my faith in Nokia phones for being rugged and reliable.
I had bought a Nokia 6600, an year back, and it is lying in my draw now...almost dead or on the verge of it...reason -- chennai rains... I feel like screaming -- BULLSHIT when I think of the 12, 300 that I spent on it. It was supposed to be my first present to my dear wify after marriage. It didnt even outlast the honeymoon!!
The features are not a thing to brag about, in the current days, when phones are soon becoming an integrated tool used for - photography, video, browsing, radio, ipod, torchs, tea kettle, washing machine, refrigirator.. .etc..etc..etc. talking of features on a 3 year old phone would be like putting Bishen Singh bedi back into action in the next world cup. But there is a problem with all these new kids on the block.. they hang too frequently, and their batteries dont last until your dryer picks up clothes after they are washed.
I dont know the current price of this phone, but I must tell you.. that it will be worth every penny you pay. I use most of the features of the phone except GPRS, and I am pretty satisfied with its availability at all times. The battery is a cut above the rest in the class, and the likelyhood of you getting disconnected on the battery will be rare, unless you are like really careless with recharging your phone..
The Looks : It is a phone for Men. Handful, and blue. the grip on the back of the phone is good, and provides adequate stability from sliding off smooth surfaces. The key pad is unique.. I dont remember any other phone having such an intresting key pad. Key pads on all other phones are bland.. This one is different.
All in all, with my experience of this phone, I would suggest it as a Strong BUY.
