hi this is Abhishek from kolkata. I am here to write a review of my brand new "Nokia 5300" mobile phone which I bought one month ago (approx). I always have been a great fan of nokia products and this is my fifth cell of which all the previous four was of "nokia" except the first one which was from "erricson". It is not that I dont like erricson products but usually people complain that erricson products are usually exposed to software problems and also due to their "delicasy" its bit difficult to handle them where as nokia products are far more "hardy " in nature and thus can tackle rough handling.
Anyways ... my recent cell "nokia 5300" is surely a "jewel" . I always had a complain for nokia mobiles that their multimedia smart phones in the market lack in " loudspeaker " quality and no doubt "erricson" mobiles got their hold on the market as "music phones". I even changed my previous "nokia 3230" mobile smartphone due to its "very poor" loudspeaker quality !!
I was in search for a smart phone (nokia) with a strong loudspeaker and I have no hesitation to say that "nokia 5300" surely satisfies the need. Its loudspeaker output is just EXCELLENT !!!
Moreover it has a very attractive design and a gorgiious look.
Its unique extra music keys placed by the side of its body make it more easy for the user to handle music player with start/pause/stop.... fast forword / previous track etc features.
Its a slide phone and the slider is very smooth and friendly in use. Its based on a spring mechanism and u can even slide it single handed only....( although it always creats a tension in mind if the slider becomes loose ...but with decent handling its not a problem).
It has by default a 256MB memory card which can be extended to 2GB which is capable of storing almost 1500 music tracks.
The phone is both bluetooth and infra ray enabled and its file transfer speed is pretty fast.
The phone also is data cable enabled and comes with a USB port.
The integrated FM radio is good and the hands free headset has a great sound reception.
Its a series 40 smartphone and supports MP3, AAC and WMA file format. Its one draw back is it does not support real player file format unless its in MP3 mode though thats not a big issue since those files can be converted to its supported format using softwares. The phone comes with a PC suit which is quiet ease in use.
Its selection keys has a smart look which makes it distinct from other designs. The phone is quiet small in length (when the slider is closed ofcourse) and is very hand friendly. You can even creat "voice messages" and send them to other compatible devices. The phone is GPRS and MMS enabled and emiling or net surfing experience is good.
It comes with a 1.3 megapixel integrated camera though its image capturing quality is not that good if there is not sufficiant light . Specially at night the night mode feature leaves dotted marks and image out put is hazy. This the only problem which I am facing .. its poor imaging quality in insufficient light.
Its back cover is a litle bit taugh to remove and one has to take special care to avoid any damage while removing it. Also its memory card holder slot is in a little unusual position as compaired to other cells.
Its crystal cover case available in market is not that strong and easily gets cracked by slight pressure. But in overall view its SUPERB MUSIC CELL and if you are mainly upto music then the cell is an excellent match . Moreover it dont has any hanging problems as I had experienced much with my previous nokia 3230 model. Its software speed is pretty fast and files do open much quickly.
