Nokia 6030
I bought this phone from Univercell outlet at Spencers(Chennai). I hadn’t really done too much of research - apart from checking the retail outlets website. My needs were
limited(mentioned below) and so was my budget.
Radio - good reception & duration(i.e. one should not have to recharge the phone too frequently simply because one listens to the radio).
Speaker-phone - To be able to have the phone audible enough in closed environments thereby more than one person could listen
E-Mail - To be able to check e-mails on Yahoo, G-Mail.
Cost/Budget - Something under the 10k(lower the better).
With these in mind the obvious choices were the MOTO Flip and this one. I have had a Moto earlier and wasn’t really happy with it - though it was almost 2 years back. But the frustration I had with that phone kinda lingered on & I have been on a Nokia 1108 for the past 2 years.
Standard features of a Nokia - like better battery time/talk time, easier to user keys(not that its a huge plus for me, but still), the usual profiles, etc are on this one. Of the points mentioned above, I found to my dismay that point 3 was unavailable. Although I could visit websites, I am unable to check e-mails on this phone. May of the phones on the 6k+ category had to be struck down since my work-place restricts the use Camera phones.
To conclude for a 5k- cost/budget this phone surely wins hands-down. The MOTO FLIP might look more flashy, however I stick with Nokia. For all ya folks out there looking at a budget phone with Color & FM, you could go in for this one. I have been using it for more than 7 months now with an Airtel Sim and have found hardly any problem - not to mention the umpteen number of times I have dropped this phone on the floor. Happy shopping/talking/listening-to-the-radio-on-the-phone!

PS: If anyone has been able to connect this phone to a PC, please provide me with the details. I’ve looked at the Nokia website and not found much on this.
