Full paisa vasool

I had wanted a cell

phone for a long time. All my friends had one and I wanted one. *Childish, I know. But I am like that. *My

budget was 5500, and I searched high and low and finally found this one. Enough

of my consumer adventures, lets get down to business.

The Nokia 6085 is a

flip cum clamshell type phone.

Looks: It’s a cute

looking phone, so anyone wanting looks should be impressed. The speaker is well

designed and nice. It has an internal antenna. The camera is on the front flap.

The outer mini display is small yet effective. It comes in two colours, I

believe. But I am not sure, mine is black.

Display: It has a

small screen size of 128*160 pixels, but a sweet colour display of 252k, with a

TFT screen. The display is very clear and nice. The outer display screen is

96*68 pixels with a monochromatic display of blue light, and the light is quite

bright. The outer display shows general information in idle mode and caller

identification if a call comes. It also supports analogue and digital clock

screen savers, which change their orientation when you open the flap.

Sound: Music lovers

will not enjoy this phone. The headphone is a mono, and the loudspeakers are

not good enough to listen to outside, or for a lot of people to listen at once.

Indoors, the speaker is sure to satisfy.

The headphone is

average, but connecting stereo headphones boosts the music volume a lot, so if

you have stereo headphones connectable through the USB port thing, use them.

Memory: The phone

has an internal memory of 6 MB, but it’s extendable to up to 1 GB via Micro SD

cards. I recommend Amco or Sandisk.

Camera: The camera

lovers won’t be too pleased. It has a VGA camera, and supports unlimited video

recording, (the length of the video is based on the memory you have). The

camera has a zoom of 4X for both still and video. It also has an auto exposure

time so no changing of modes during night time photos. Also, the photos won’t

be good unless you remove the camera cover. The VGA camera takes fairly good

photos, even with the full zoom on. And it has neat effects like solarise, grey

scale etc.

Language support:

This phone supports 10, that’s right 10 Indian languages. English, Bengali,

Hindi, Tamil, you name it, it’s got it. It supports SMS in all these languages

too.

Battery: Being a music and camera phone, the battery

gets drained in about 48 hours. That’s a drawback.

Connectivity:

Bluetooth, USB, GPRS (56 kbps) and EDGE (238 kbps). No infra red.

Media: MP3 player MP3/MP4/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+/WMA formats,

polyphonic ring tones WMA, MIDI 64, MP3, AAC, AAC+ and AMR WB tones, Picture

ringing tones, video player 3GPP, H.263

video, MPEG-4, voice recorder and FM Radio. with Visual Radio, Macromedia Flash 2.0

Others: MMS, E mail, audio SMS, Java MIDP 2.0

Frequency : Quadband, 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz

The sound reception

and voice clarity are good.

Price: 5750 Rs

One year warranty.

Overall, this phone

is a full *paisa vasool. *Anyone

looking for a lot of features in one phone at low price will love it.
