Go get IT!!

The Nokia 6233 is a simple bar-form phone, which doesn’t have any style to flaunt. It just looks exquisite but is it really exquisite or not is very subjective. It did manage to cross-over weighing 110 grams. It has a large 256K screen 30 x 40 mm size and offers a 320 x 240 pixels resolution that is brilliant. It has a great keypad with a 5-way D-Pad. The top of the phone has the Power/Profile button and the end of the phone is shared by a pop-port and a charging port.

The phone has the Volume UP/DOWN buttons to the right and a camera hotkey towards the end. The camera button is a little too much to the end that makes it difficult to access when you hold the phone sideways to click a snap. The left side of the phone has a PTT(Push To Talk) activation button, which is really no use to us but only until it becomes a common service among all service providers in India. The left side of the phone has the memory slot towards the end, which is neatly shielded. The speakers on both sides give a nice stereo sound effect and they are quite loud as well.

The body finish of the phone is a mixture of gloss and matt finish. It feels like the designer was confused but his confusion has had a good result to a certain extent. The phone on the top and sides is an all gloss finish; there is a chrome platted border for the face. The back of the phone, leaving out the housing of the 2 MP camera, has a matt rubber finish. The housing of the camera is gloss as well. The camera is placed as an impression and has a self-portrait mirror beside it. The whole impression is neatly bordered with chrome and has Nokia 2 megapixel written in silver below it. All the glossy parts are expected to hold fingerprints while the matt finish of the back prevents the phone from slipping off your palms. All simple and not so neat after all.

Features

The Nokia 6233 is a feature-packed phone like its predecessor. The phone packs in the best so that you can get a proportionate mix to extract value. The phone has a 2.0 megapixel camera. The camera has VGA recording, which is great to see in a Series 40 phone. The 6233 also has your much-loved FM tuner and a music player with support for many formats. The phone accepts the microSD memory card format and supports a max of a 2 GB card. Apart from that the phone houses an internal memory of 6 MB. The phone works flawlessly and there were no signs of the phone hanging. The phone has a great option of connectivity. It only leaves out WLAN connectivity; else it offers Bluetooth, Infra-red, and USB via POP-Port. It also has GPRS Class 10, HSCSD, EDGE, and 3G as well. The 3G connectivity will be limited to only a one-way video conference due to lack of dual camera. The phone has a WAP 2.0 browser and comes with 3 games loaded; Nokia World Cup, 3D Street Racer, and 3D Snake.

Battery

The Nokia 6233 has a good battery life.It runs flat out for three days without a charge. The battery life of the phone also depends upon what you actually use it for. A lot of multimedia usage will drop the battery life of 3 days to just 1 and a half day. Multimedia usage would include using the phone as a music player or using the camera or showing off your collection through the speakers. The phone has a great power-saving mode where the phone looks dead, basically the whole screen is off with no screensaver or time display(can be chosen through the options to switch Screensaver/Time Display ON/OFF.) For an average user the phone juice flows for two days, which is very respectable for the amount of features packed in the phone.

Conclusion

The Nokia 6233 is selling for around Rs. 12, 000 off the street. The phone has all that one would pay for and expect to get. There aren’t many better phones available that give you so much at that price making it a perfectly respectable buy; at the same time expect you to get a little used to the minor glitches; if productivity rules over style for you the Nokia 6233 is great.
