Many of my able friends said that Nokia 6600 phone is ugly and bulky, some commented on its sound quality, but the actual problem is with the people who have less knowledge and still want to comment on the product. Remember your reviews makes a difference on buyers who refer to sites of these kind before purchasing , as like everything it has its own pros and cons which I found, here’s a listing.
Sound quality : The quality is really bad, very low volume, you can’t even hear ringtone when in crowded area, the sound in nothing as compared to N-gage, someone in the posting said that, purchase the stereo earphones to get the stereo sound from your phone instead of using the boom headset provided with the phones, what rubbish ! nokia 6600 doesn’t support stereo sound as it does not have the hardware required, even the mp3 playback is mono, that’s the reason that nokia people do not ship this phone with stereo headset. I even tried to make a very high quality wave file as ringtone but the sound is not acceptable.
Radio : No radio in the phone, some people say that softwares are available for incorporating radio, What the hell, what has happened to you guys ! how can you make a fm reciever circuitry using software :)), however softwares are available for providing internet radio using your GPRS connection, and that too mono. You see its not possible to make diode detectors and RF amplifiers using some lines of code.
Infrared : infrared is very bad as compared to that provided by sony erricsson people, its very rare moment that it connects without any problem.
Bluetooth : bluetooth is very nice but the version is 1.1 , the latest version i.e 1.2 in NOKIA 3230 and various latest models, make this phone dumb, u can’t recieve a file from a higher version bluetooth device, however you can send one, nokia should really do something about this issue.
Camera : camera is of very poor resolution, 640 * 480 , that’s not even 1 megapixel, sony erricsson people are masters at this, they have reached the level of 3 megapixel, while nokia with the latest of 1.2 megapixel only, the video recorder in of no use, as its duration is only 10 seconds, and the quality is really bad, u cannot share such videos, or store them as memories.
Software : nokia 6600 is based on symbian series 60 OS, symbian people are masters at this, however there are some flaws in this, as you cannot save a copy of data file or picture file in your inbox to some folder of your wish, actually this a very well laid plan by nokia for helpind 3rd party software makers earn on the bugs left and forgotten by brands like nokia, for example 6600 doesn’t support mp3 playback directly, instead you install a third party software for that, same is the case for video recorders and many more, this is why the 3rd party software makers are earning e.g ultramp3, seleQ, camcorder2 etc etc.
Finally, someone said that it doesn’t support memory greater than 256 mb, how come this is possible yaar, I myself is using a 512mb sdram, and its running perfectly, so this was my review, any comments are welcome !
So I think you all also agree, people with half knowledge should thing twice before posting, I do not say I am a perfect, but I am someone who has dedicated over 2 years researching in mobile phones !
