If anyone has ever used a Nokia 7210, then they would be very familiar with the 6610. With a price tag of about Rs 17000 in the gray market, its a bit expensive but the features it boasts of are well worth the money spent. The 6610 is provided with Polyphonic ringtones with the ability to easily download more. The 6610 has a lot of interesting features such as a Stereo FM Radio, Thermometer, Portfolio Manager, Currency and measurement converter to name a few. The 6610 belongs to the latest genre of mobile phones and is Java Capable. Its provided with Java applications, Java games and more Java applications and games can be downloaded from the net. It is also MMS enabled meaning that you have access to the multimedia rich messaging and you can sms and thrill your friends with messages attached with pictures, animations, midi audio files and graphics. The phone is slim and at 84 gm and dimensions measuring 106x45x18mm, its very light weight and easy to hold. It could be safe to state that the layout of the Keypad is the best around and very comfortable to use. The Keypad is also provided with a very thoughtfully planned 4-way Scroll button further enhancing the looks and use. The ability to change the colours of the phone with changeable X-press On covers, which of late has become a standard feature of almost all Nokia phones, provided the user with a new look every time.
The 6610 has a good battery life with about 150-300 hours of Standby time and 2-5 hours of Talk time enough to last out a good, long trip. The Voice clarity too is very good and I was able to receive the signals even in the cellar of a shopping complex. I have found the Hands free Speaker to be very good and useful. The Phone book provided in the 6610 is very large with the ability to store 300 names. The 6610 has the convenience to be connected to a PC through the Infra Red Port. I was able to download colourful wallpapers, backgrounds, ringtones, animations and Java games very easily into the phone. Using software such as LogoManager, I could very easily create my own logos and operator logos and download them into the 6610 through a PC.
All in all, the 6610 is a beautiful and feature rich phone provided you can shell out the price without a second thought. And another factor to consider is that if you could pay about Rs 17000 for this phone, then you could easily dare a little bit and go for the Nokia 7650 which is available for about Rs 23000 and comes with a digital camera too and looks more beautiful. If you can really afford any of these phones, then go for it. But, remember, mobile phones these days become obsolete very soon and you dont curse yourself to find that theres a new model in the market as soon as you have shelled out an exorbitant price for this. But, at least with this babe in your hand, you can be sure of all those admiring glances directed towards you and that funky mobile in your hand. Happy mobiling!!!
