I love this phone, know my world revolves around, how did I ever do with out it. OK, cut the c**p, that?s not what I think and Im not particularly keen on mobiles but even I have to admit that this phone is an asset to me. Where to start is the question, well lets sum up the phone and then review each aspect.
It is very small and has incredibly high performance. Compared with its original 8110 this is reliable mobile phone which wont let you down. Well I hope so, but knowing my luck the next time I pick it up the thing will fall to pieces in my hand. Today with more and more new kinds of mobile on sale the price of the older ones will usually rapidly decrease. From my experience with mobiles (what experience I here you say), one kind mobile will stay in the market for a couple of years. At the moment this (being popular) applies mainly to all Nokia mobile phones and this phone hasnt been an exception. Then the latest and more modernised phone will take over and be in the spot light. Well this is what it used to be like until technology just started to move forward at the speed of light!!! (In accordance with my theory) the 8210 has been in the market for about two years, (Im a genius - not). And the decrease in price has been pathetic. So what does that lead us to conclude that it is so popular that phones with more functions are no match for it. That seems the case, but know that Ive bought it at ridiculous price it will rapidly decrease. Enough of me rambling on lets see why it is such a popular phone and why it hasnt dropped in price. Below I have outlined the main characteristics.
- Small, Light and Slim
At a mere 79 grams , it is lightest mobile in the Nokia mobile family (to date). It can easily fit in the palm of your hand, and it can slide it into your pocket and you wont notice its presence. Another benefit of it being so slim is that when your wearing jeans its not noticeable that youve got a phone on you. Useful if you feel vulnerable walking down the high street.
2.Changeable Express-on covers
There are many covers in different colours for this kind mobile. You can select your preferred colour to match your clothing. It takes a couple of minutes to change a cover which is useful. If you havent got time and you want your phone to go with your suit.
3.Voice dialling
Call your friend with your mouth. The simplest way to dial is to press one button and say a name. The problem is that only eight names can be saved on the voice dialling. At this new technology of voice dialling isnt particularly good if youre in a room with even a few people talking. It is a nice extra and it is useful when youre driving and when your alone with your phone.
4.Picture messaging
Picture is a good way to communicate with other people via sms. With this you can send and receive picture with other Nokia mobile supporting this function. Well its useless to me, I havent sent any and dont intend to. I thought about doing a few from my desk at work. But the boss said that that was stepping over the line. After all Ive got line-dancers in my office and a mini-fridge so I didnt want to upsets him!!!
5.Predictive text input
When you send a short message to others inputting is a little difficult thing. But 8210 can reduce the difficulty. There is a built-in dictionary. It support major European languages which enable user to write faster than with a conventional keypad.
It is good and bad, the good has been mentioned above, but the bad part is that it is annoying when you want to put in another word and it keeps putting in something else.
6.Display
It is a illuminated high-contrast full-graphics display. There are up to 5 lines for text, numbers and graphics.
7.Memory
It can store 250 names and numbers. And there is space for 50 calendar notes.
At last I have to tell you that a newest 8250 has arrived in Asia and America. well have to wait a bit before it comes here to the UK. Cest la vie!!! When it gets on the British market well all marvel at its beauty and my be-loved 8210 will have in price over and over again until theyre giving them away with Weetabix. At present the price is variable depending on what tariff and deal you get.
My verdict, go for the 8210, its class reliable, slim and stylish. Everything the business man of today wants. Except the line-dancers, mini-fridge, en-suite restaurant and of course the Porsche. Oh well!!!
