Having been a Nokia user for the past 14 years, I was in awe of the consistent quality and innovative features of its phones. After buying a dozen nokia phones, I had immense faith in the brand and would buy their phones even with my eyes closed. But lately(since 2008), I noticed that the quality was decreasing, but was still good enough. Finally in Nov, 2010, I decided to buy a Nokia C5. That decision seems to be the worst I ever made.
I bought a sealed nokia C5(made in korea, oct 2010) box home. On opening it, the handset seemed alright. But when I held it, the phone made creaking sounds and the backlight wasnt uniform. Then I noticed that the screen was slightly tilted vertically and the the camera had a greenish tint on one side. Finally when I recvd a call, the phone hung like a computer. I returned it to the dealer.
This time I was careful and opened boxes in the shop to check the phone before buying it. After 2 defective phones, I finally chose one(made in korea, nov 2010) that seemed good. But after few days I realised this one was even worse- it had a few dead pixels in the LCD and sound output was louder in right channel. Also it made continuous "tick tick" noises from the loudspeaker when idle. I took it to Nokia care and they replaced the LCD, but said that the sound problem and noises were due to a defective power IC. All these problems in just a week old phone! I was shocked and on top of that they wouldnt replace the phone. After struggling with nokia for a month, I gave up and kept the defective phone.
BEWARE: Nokia seems to be selling off repaired phones as brand new ones.
