Perfection with no fax support :(

Just before I begin my review...id just like to add that I have previously owned the 9210i, the 9500 and now the E90. I have posted a review on the 9500 on this site...

I got the BLACK EDITION E90(with 2 gb micro sdcard) as a pre bday gift from my wife as she couldn’t stand me torturing myself waiting for my bday to come...lol... black edition has upgraded software and higher cap card as opposed to the red and mocha colored E90s with 512 mb card)

The very first day I set my eyes on it...i knew Nokia was getting close to "perfection" and I was hoping my curiosity would b fulfilled...

I got the phone for the price of Rs 33490...and frankly I didnt care ny less for the price...its like when u love so meting sooo much u dont really care at all...

Reading the manual isint necessary as the phone menus are well laid out for you to configure the reqd settings u need...

After tinkering with the phone and all its functions the following functions have met/ exceeded my expectations:

  1. camera: 3.2 mp is great esp in dark room with flash on and macro enabled(for close up shots) and all settings on high...i was amazed by pic quality...looks like o dont need a digicam nymore...

  2. wifi : is reasonably fast and page refreshing is great!!!the small keypad makes typing a pain though...new mouse button is AWESOME...

  3. voice recorder: the quick launch button is sooo convenient and has helped me many a time to record convos in the course of my business deals!!!!

  4. software: is great symbian s60 3rd version I think

  5. processor: seems decent...i have got software slowdowns once or twice... but I think these events happen infrequently. I read somewhere that the new processor running the E90 is much better then the old one used in 9500. so I guess a minor freeze wont hurt that much....

  6. build quality is very good...alot of "metal" has been used on the covers making it quite sturdy and rugged...i suggest buying the nokia phone cover for the E90 as it literally wraps the phone without spoiling its functionality...

7.opening mechanism: the 3 strp opening mechanism in order to view the internal screen is simply wayyyyy better than the 9500(which broke 1 hinge quite recently)..i dont think the phone will have those issues unless it falls from say the 1st floor...

  1. screens: both screens are good with the smaller screen having the same resolution as the inner bigger one... a feature not present in the 9500...

  2. pc-suite: the new version absolutely rocks...the software has all bugs available in the prev version fixed and layout looks soo nice and modern...the nice part is that after setting up for synchronising...the new pics taken on the phone via camera are displayed on the comp for your viewing...a great feature...btw the picture viewing feature int he phone is pretty cool too...

music player is decent but sound quality is suspect.. the speaker output in the E90 requires more presence and bass...u have to really crank the volume up to full in order to get passable music output... there is options on the pc suite soft ware to change file extensions to more preferable nokia music formats which do not downgrade original quality...

CONS:

no fax support.... there is no default fax support software although I heard there is a software upgrade which can make the E90 receive faxes... im looking into this... and if I do get lucky ... will post it 4 u guys to check it out... so watch this space!!!

the phone weighs a bit...enough to make someone pass out if u hit him hard on the head...but then again im assuing u aint stupid enuf to do this!!!...

the static on the metal body tends to attract alot of dust...cleaning the cell periodically with a soft cloth becomes essential...damn

all in all...its worth money spent...provided u will use all features given to u on da cell

the keypad is even tighter than the 9500... that makes typing quite a pain... I always believe that the 9210i had the best keypad period!!!

battery life though good...the cell seeems to need a recharge everyday...something I didnt see in the 9500.... I guess newer processor along with the 2 screens needs more fuel to run
