I used a galaxy note 2 as my main drover, during the time my friend got a lumia 520 as his work phone so I got a chance to play with it. I purchased it As my second phone for a price of 9200.
This is a great experience for the price, I wanted to try out Windows Phone platform and despite being an android user since 2010 I developed a liking for Windows.
Pros
feel in hand
great keyboard and typing experience
display quality good for the price
Windows Phone platform gets regular updates which keeps things interesting(if you are too lazy to update then please don’t buy a smartphone)
battery backup is better than my galaxy note 2 period
design consistency in apps and interface makes it easy to navigate
does not hang
camera is actually pretty good in day time
all windows phone devices get updates and is simply a few clicks to force update than rooting
Cons
display doesn’t have tough glass, I shattered it once with a slight drop from the desk to the floor
official apps are often half baked but third party alternative are better
still needs some basic usability refinement like smart dialling, call record etc, hopefully Windows 10 fixes it
no front camera
I really feel bad seeing people Ranting online about the phone over things like "why so many update" a guy on flipkart said Microsoft released incomplete software, which clearly indicates the phone being a smartphone but user being not do smart.
Please use the search function in the phone if you don’t understand a feature instead of declaring the device as crap
A few quirks or characteristics of windows phone 8.1 platform
the start screen needs to have the tile of the app u use, take some time to set it up and it shall work well
u can pin things like website, chat window in most messengers, favorite contacts etc as direct shortcut on the start screen
no side load of apps, this actually is a good idea to prevent marwane, everything comes from the windows store only
there’s an excellent file manager app called "files" made by Microsoft
the notification of apps can be customized
6tag is best client for Instagram
Please use the smartphone with an active Internet connection, it is a shame to go otherwise.
