My Nokia 2-year old Nokia N71 phone --- (1) Camera stopped working last year; message on screen says "Hardware failure: restart camera". But it doesn’t start. (2) Screen suddenly goes blank and phone switches off by itself, and it has to be physically restarted. (3) When the backlighting stopped working last week, I gave it for repairs in a local shop (not authorised one) as they are said to charge less.
A small flexible part known as "strip" was replaced. I was charged Rs 1000/- for this; just to get the backlighting working. The shop could not repair the camera. I wonder what would be the charge for the strip if I had got it replaced by an authorised Nokia centre. I am told that authorised centre would have charged double.
The good thing about this phone is that the music system is simply great. It is a pleasure to listen to music. The big screen and eye-catching menus and themes are easy to follow. There are several features including connecting to the internet which I have not used due to the cost. For an expensive phone like this one, Nokia must offer a better scheme, like a 5-year free warranty.
