Today I would like to review the Nokia N72, I had purchased this handset as I wanted a phone which could double up as a personalized office tool as well, let me tell you that I was not at all disappointed with this purchase.
Initially there were a lot of problems starting up the phone (Day 2) but gradually that eased out and I realised that this was indeed a known issue with this particular model, if you go by the various posts about this handset.
Anyhow, I started using the handest (Along with my trusty Moto Flip W220) and was amazed by all its features:**
Features:**
1) Bluetooth
2) 2 MP camera with flash
3) Video Recording
4) Office viewers (Excel, Powerpoint, Word)
5) Acrobat reader
6) Opera Mini Browser
7) Real player /Music Player
8) Preloaded java based games
9) 512 MB Flash card
10) Speaker phone
Well, most of the features have been covered there (Whew!!)
**Coming to the Pros:**
1) Battery Life is good, lasts for a little over a day and a half (Good by my standards, considering the amout of WAP usage and usage of the cam!!)
2) Opera Mini browser is a joy to browse with, dont believe me? Try downloading it if your phone supports it :
https://operamini.com/
3) Camera quality is really good and works well whether it be day or night, Video quality though is a bit of a let down , could have been much better!
4) You can sync the handset with your PC and also transfer Word, excel and Power point files which can be viewed on the handset which is great if you travel a lot, I also like the fact that I have adobe on the phone, which ensures that I can open almost all attachments sent by email (through Opera)
5) Symantec security (Did I miss that??) - My cousin had a memory card which was infected by a virus and even a format could not help fix it, hence im safe atleast for 6 months as it is a trial version
6) An option to make your own movies and edit them is available through the Muvee director s/w that comes bundled on the flash card, Each clip can be of an Hour (Please watch this usage though as it can eat up memory!!) I found this pretty handy and you might see a video review from me pretty soon (As soon as I get some time off my hectic schedule!!)
7) Real player - Helps to play MP3 music and to watch videos which you can download over the net, you can listen to this music either through the speaker option or through the earphones supplied (Bog Standard and a little uncomfortable!)
8) Good quality radio, but you need to have the earphones connected to get the output even through the speaker (God alone knows Why??!!)
**Now to the Cons:**
Considering the way I was raving about the handset in the PRO section, you may have thought that there arent any cons to mention, but unfortunately there are!!
1) The handset is not very comfortable to operate if you are an SMS freak, you might find that the buttons are very hard to operate and are not comfotable
2) The handset hangs sometimes and especially at startup, this it appears, is a pretty known fact with this handset, sometimes you might end up wondering if there is an issue with the handset when switching it on, but keep the power button pressed continuously and it will come to life!!
The other option is of course, do not switch off the handset
3) The Speaker is not too great and there is some distortion when you try to listen to music in hands free mode.
4) Phone is slightly bulky, its definitely not one of those swanky models around!
All in all to summarise, this handset is a good buy for the price that it is being offered at (Rs. 9800 when I bought it). If you are the kind of person who is always on the move and also like to have a bit of fun along the way, then this is the handset for you.
Thank you for taking the time to read my lengthy review,
Until next time folks!!! Keep posting!!
