its just not a typical story about how a person fights and wins a settlement nor like the Erin brokovich style..
but yes the movie has substance, the emotions and the characters are srong, we feel the pain..
A movie inspired by a a true story set in 1989 in minesota...
Josie aimes (charlize theron) who plays the lead role. A story of a woman who led the charge in a court action against her employer, an iron mining operation, whose male rank crude misbehaviours agianst women on them working in the mines.
Management resisted taking any action to remedy the situation and a class action lawsuit for sexual harassment became the first of its kind, prevailed in the courts and set a new standard and a precedent for employers throughout the United States.
The movie starts where josie(charlize theron) flees from her abusive husband with her two kids to her parents home. Here the father doesnt seems happy as josie first son was born out of wedlock, so treats her as shame in the family.
She starts working in a saloon, where she is encouraged by a friend to work in the mine where she can earn six times what she is earning down here.
The director paves the way for the feeling of the snowy Minnesota landscape, the open pit mines where explosives are used to break up the ore, and the noisy, smoky, dusty, toxic atmosphere of the processing plant.
What comes is a series of incident what she and women emplyess face their at the mines Men dominating place.Unions , top management are not at all responsive to their cries.
Josie but is determined not to leave the job as now she is earning for her own and feeding her Kids by her own.She is fully credible as a working class mother and a victim who has the determination to fight back
The movie genre though being good sometimes drag...and the motto is diluted .
One other character is of Glory joise freind who tells her about the job..her quick mouth and way of speaking is really good.
One scene where the mother of joise tells her husband is quite to think about
’’she had a baby, she did not rob a bank ’’
Movie Overall is good, but the court scene could have been more elaborate and with facts as the movie revolves around the emotions which they do it well, could have been an icing on the cake if the court scene was taken better
Overall its worth seeing
