Good AntiVirus Software provides reasonably superior protection to computer by detection and elimination of ever-growing viruses. But no AntiVirus is 100% performer because of development of new viruses. So it is essential to have regular updates of the software. Norton AntiVirus is different from many others in this field because of its regular updates to combat new viruses. Easy updating of Norton AntiVirus helps to update virus definition.

Proactive Norton

Norton AntiVirus is proactive software if you are in auto-protect mode. It monitors computer for both known and unknown viruses. A known virus is one that is identified and can be detected. In case of a known virus it is possible to repair effected program or file by Norton. An unknown virus is one for which Norton does not yet have a definition but Norton can protect computer from such viruses. Its Bloodhound technology and Script Blocking can detect unknown viruses. Virus definition, Bloodhound technology, and Script Blocking are all used during any type of scanning to monitor computer.

The virus definition service stops known viruses and repair affected one.

Bloodhound technology is scanning tool of Norton to detect unknown viruses. It stops unknown viruses by analyzing structure of executable file, its behavior and other characteristics.

Script Blocking stops script-based viruses. Script Blocking detects Visual Basic and Java script-based viruses. It does not require any specific virus definitions. It monitors the scripts for virus-like behavior and alerts.

How viruses spread

A Computer Virus is a freeloading program. Viruses are programmed to change the operating of a computer. Generally these specifically written programs corrupt programs, delete files, or even erase disk.

Viruses infect system files and documents created by programs we use. Once a virus is in the memory usually it can infect any program and file. A virus may stay active in memory until computer is turned off although some viruses are active only when the infected program is running. Turning off computer or exiting the program removes the virus from memory however does not remove it from the infected file or disk. Virus activates when computer is started from the infected disk if it is in an operating system or it may be active when we start an infected file.

Macro viruses are programs that are designed to reproduce viruses from file to file. Macro viruses can spread very quickly. These are programmed to destroy or to change data.

Trojan horses are programs that are programmed to provide some useful function like entertainment. But these programs also dish up an unseen intention and may be written to damage files or push in a virus on a computer. Trojan horses are not viruses because it do not reproduce. Files that contain Trojan cannot be repaired. Norton AntiVirus can detect Trojan horses. It is possible to eliminate Trojan Horses by Norton AntiVirus.

Worms are not viruses like Trojan so cannot be repaired. Worms take up space, slow down the pc, and should be deleted from the computer. Norton can help you.

This version is easily accessible from Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher because Norton AntiVirus 2002 adds a button to the toolbar that allows viewing protection status, managing the Quarantine, viewing Activity Log & Encyclopedia. It is also possible to start scanning for viruses from the same button.

I Prefer Auto Mode of this Antidote

Auto-Protect of Norton AntiVirus loads when I switch on PC and Windows. Norton AntiVirus without human intervention can eliminates viruses and Trojan horses, macro viruses, worms and repairs damaged files if it is in Auto-Protect mode. Norton always checks for viruses in computer, inserted floppy disks or any other removable media, Emails and its attachments.

Norton AntiVirus monitors computer for any unusual activity that may be a virus like activity and warns me. It protects computer from Internet-borne viruses and this feature of Norton is very useful for all my friends who do not get sound sleep if they do not surf net.

For better performance of your computer keep Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect turned on.

Up-date your AntiVirus regularly. In case of Norton, it is possible to have automatic update as soon as you are connected to Internet. It’s important to maintain good health of our PC.
