This could happen to you.

This is one of the most horrifying and spine chilling tales I’ve read till date. What’s worse? Its an absolutely true story and could happen to you.

Years after being in a secure marriage with an Arab immigrant doctor to the USA, American Betty Mahmoody flies with her husband Dr Sayyed Bozorg Mahmoody (’Moody’)and their little daughter to visit Iran.

While in Iran, Betty is shocked by Moody’s large family’s lifestyle. Their unhygenic living conditions, unhealthy food habits, fanatic and orthodox behavior make her thank her stars that Moody is so American and unlike his family.

Betty and their little daughter soon become victims of diarrohea and the ill treatment of Moody’s relatives. Betty urges Moody to take them back home to America but he has a big surprise for her...

Moody tells Betty that he’s lost his job back home and he plans to stay back in his homeland Iran. He forces Betty to support him with his decision and urges her to accept his family’s religion and lifestyle.

Then on the cultured and mild mannered American doctor turns into a tyrant and tribal from the Arabian desert.

He confines his wife and daughter to the house, confiscates their passports and forces them to break all contact with the outside world.

Betty struggles for years to get away from the tyrant- a man she once loved and to break away from the limits of Iran onto Turkish soil.

The story may sound like fiction. It is hard to believe that Betty actually escaped to America and is still alive. Its even harder to believe that people can change to monsters overnight.
