Indipop culture was introduced in the country nearly ten years back(it persisted from before but just in forms of classical greats)and the pioneers were the likes of daler paaji(Daler Mehndi), Alisha Chinoy, Hariharan and loads of others. And by 1999 this industry was flourishing and a large bunch of aspiring youths and Desi bands joined the race.... this list is dedicated to the golden years of indipop... and I hope the days return
This is my choice of 11 all time great Indipop songs....
1.>Dooba Dooba rehtaa hoon aankhon mein teri(SILK-ROUTE)=>this song is sung brilliantly, the lyrics, the music and the video all combine to give forward a truly mystical effect...specially the flute that truly mesmerises the listeners I rate this song very highly
2.>Saawan mein lag gayi aag dil mera hai(MIKKA)=>when I firstly heard this guy I thought that he had a bad cold(kiddin) and it didnt take too much time for me to see yet another legendary song in this suavy track sung by a long haired jatt!!the track really touches your heart and soul
3.>Kal rahe yaa naa rahen yaad aayenge yeh pal(K.K)=> a True to my heart song which gives you a feeling of unending friendship and a spirit which soars skies and touches the highest of mountains it really gives the listener a heart to share and a melody to humm forever!!!
4.>O sanam muhabbat ki kasammmm(LUCKY ALI)=>A lone traveler, thats what suits Lucky Ali to a T, the video portrays an archeologist who is on the verge of discovering something great and the soft number that builds up is as historical as any of the locations shown!! the Safar(or sifar as lucky calls it)tends to mave on and on and on...
5.>chain ek pal nahin...Sayoneee(JUNOON)=> a group of 3 junnoni youngsters from Pakistan made the nation swirl to its tunes an dthe high notes of sayonee really made me a big fan of theirs, however the other songs of theirs were dissapointing(except yaar bina dil mera) but they really , ade an impact thats for sure:)
6.>voh chali voh chali dekho pyaar ki gali(Bombay Vikings)=>this is probably the first and the last Remix I would ever like to hear...the mixture of english lyrics on this legendary hindi track made it different and people of almost every age groups liked the song and Shreedhar and his bombay Vikings were an instant hit!!!
7.>ab kya karoon kaasey kahoon..aye maeeri(EUPHORIA)=> Probably the first Indipop band, mde the nation go crazzy over their first album Dhoom and returned with Phir Dhoom, the title track maaeri is personally my favourite indipop song ever.. the track has a soothing tune and ofcourse the scintillating voice of Dr.Palash Sen makes you a fan...
8.>Tanha Dil tanha safar..dhoondey tujhey phir kyon nazar(SHAAN)=> a youth icon with a killer smile and great looks to top his magical voice(resembling Kisore da) thats what Shaantanu Mukherjee(Shaan) was 7 years back when he sang Tanha dil..now he is a voice of every succesfull actor in bollywood and has a big T.V show to host...this song made me belive that nobody knows what life has in store for you..to be simple I LOVE THIS SONG..
the next three songs are from a recent phase of the indipop industry which is undergoing a phase of recovery and is being greatly helped by neighbouring Pakistaans flourishing pop industry
9.>Bulla ki jaana main kaun(RABBI SHERGILL)=> oh my god.. this guy looks like a sufi saint in disguise was my first reaction on seeing Rabbi Shergill, the sheer simplicity of this song and the video leaves you speechless... the lyrics in perticular which even though being hardcore punjaabi make you feel adapted to the otherwise alien verses and the tune makes us go belive in the divine power..
10.>Voh lamhe voh baatein koi naa jaane(JAL)=> This pakistani band with three Gem of artistes in Gauhar Mumtaaz, Farhaan and Shaazi make magical tunes and out of the world lyricses that make the new gen listeners(who are tired of listening remixes) sing their songs with utmost interest... the song voh lamhe who was also featured in a movie is a great track which relives the youth...
!!.>rangeen hai tu rangon se bhi zyaadaa(ALI ZAFAR)=> this is a speciall addition to my list...the young generation of pakistaan is very much fond of this great looking singing sensation and his song Rangeen CAN NOT be explained in words.... I request all the members and readers to watch the video and it is Prince da promise that u are bound to like it
that concludes my list... people will think of why I didnt add abhijeet sawant or several others in my list but if u compare the above listed songs to the others... u are bound to find the difference...CIAO
