Drab n Dull

While I was browsing through a book store, this book caught my eye as I happened to remember something my friend once commented about it. Bought it but chanced opening quite sometime later.

The book is really dreary to start with. There is no clear path for the story to progress. Whatever path it took was clearly obvious from the beginning, you can even guess the defectors from their first mention itself. The introduction has nothing much to write home about.

The characters do not have a character. The storyline is plausible and very possible but Reich’s writing style cannot hold a reader’s attention even through the middle of the book. I had to pull myself together and concentrate hard to complete the book to keep myself from drifting to sleep. The ending was a lot better than the entire book, maybe because I was feeling happy that the book was finally coming to an end.

Whatever humor that was present was ok, better than the plot, but cannot carry the entire book or to that matter make you laugh at times.

If you are looking for a thriller, pick up a Ken Follett or a Robert Ludlum to that matter, but not this one.
