Went for full body waxing, including bikini wax+ facial+ threading. Was thankful when the waxing got over, paid the bill, left, promising myself NEVER to visit this horrendous place again.
On entering the parlour, I mentioned the services I intended to get, and requested for an experienced beautician, especially considering I was going for a bikini wax. The lady at the counter, Binny, assured me that she’ll be the one working on me. Looking at her age and confidence, I was like, ok great!
So went into this booth with a see-through glass door and wall, and blinds that are pulled only half-way down. I request that the blinds be pulled down to the floor. The beautician assisting Binny(I don’t remember her name) tells me that nothing is visible from outside. I point out that I can clearly see everything outside, and ask her why would nothing be visible from outside-in, considering the glass is not polished from ANY side. She disgruntledly pulls down the blind. But some girl or the other keeps popping in to take or supply stuff to the room, hoisting the blind up every time. And all this, when my booth is right across the hair-cutting section filled with guys. And no matter, I don’t even want girls to be popping in and out of the room I am sitting semi-naked in. but obviously that doesn’t seem to be the code there.
Coming to the service itself - both the women had absolutely no idea about how to wax. I mean, I have been getting waxed since over 15 years now. This experience was solidly in the worst 3 I have ever had. And that includes a stint in a small town in Jharkhand, in a small booth-type parlour, with a 17 year old beautician with no formal training, and another branded, corporate type parlour with equally pathetic levels of service.
They kept on putting thick layers of wax. I kept on complaining that the wax is too hot. And they kept on telling me, "Mam yeh sensitive area hai na." At one point I sat up to see why I’m feeling so uncomfortable, saw the thick layer of wax, pointed it out, only to be faced with smirks.
This was about the body wax. I don’t even know how to describe the ordeal I faced for bikini wax. I was left in tears. It was at least as much, if not more painful than my first couple of times. And I’ve been getting the area waxed since last two years, at least. And if I was completely shameless, may be I’d post pics to show what shoddy work has been done. I mean, after you make me go through all that pain, at least have results to show for it.
Why I didn’t just get up and walk out? Beats me. I should have. And I should have refused to pay. And I should have called the manager/ owner and given him/ her a piece of my mind. Actually, if this was one of the "1st world countries", I could have demanded a compensation for all the physical and mental anguish. But unfortunately, it is not. So the best I can do is write this review, and hope that even a couple of people are deterred to go to this over-priced and undeserving place.
