First of all, this can be considered an art film, being directed by Shoojit Sircar nonetheless, who has delivered good hits such as Piku.
The direction was quite good. Great cinematography. Being a photographer myself, I could not help but appreciate the photography. Brilliant lighting, composition, and attention to details.
Coming to the plot, it was decent. A bit slow, it might be for some people. But it is intended to be like that.
The character of Dan(Varun Dhawan) is of a guy who had fallen helplessly in love, and he realizes it after every visit to the hospital. It was portrayed well by VD, but the director could have shown some dark sides to the character as well, which was missing.
The ending was good, properly done. The meaning of why the movie was named’October’, and all that.
I wouldn’t say it’s a must watch, but it’s a refreshing watch after so many commercial Bollywood movies which have come out recently.
