Whenever We Can

My family and I are great fans of amusement parks. We live for the thrill of the roller coasters. The higher they go and the faster you drop--the better we like it. One of our all time favorite places to go is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. When we used to live there we would go almost every weekend. Now it is more of a treat because we only get to go once every couple of years. It is the home to the world famous Magnum 2000.

This place is huge. There is something for everyone. Our younger children love to go to children’s play land. This is a place where their dreams come alive. At any given moment there are side shows for them to see. They love to meet and great the many characters that roam the park. For the thrill seeker in them you have the many various rides. The mini roller coasters seem to be their favorites. Of course for their more tame side you have the merry-go-round, child size bumper cars, and the boat rides. Let us not forget those world famous helicopter rides. They have been the favorites of children for many years.

After we are done here it is on to the many side events. Let us not forget all the play and win games. What would a park be without them? As we walk down the midway you are sure to find all the junk food that even seven starving children can handle. There are burgers and fries, pizzas and pies, cotton candy, popcorn, and my all time favorite the funnel cakes.

All bellies are full and on to the great shows. You can find people trying to guess anything from your name to your age to your weight---don’t think so!!! On to the train rides through frontier land, boat rides through the swamp, creatures popping up everywhere. Boy that was a thrill.

Now its time for mom and dad to loose their lunch. It’s ’’COASTER TIME’’.

Here we find such favorites as the Demon Drop---What goes straight up, must come straight down. What a rush!!! The world famous Magnum is next on the agenda. On to the Cork Screw---man I did not know going upside down and round and round could feel so weird. Now for a walk on the mild side it is on to the Blue Streak and the mine rides. I could go on for hours. It is a roller coaster buffs biggest thrill.

Now with our stomachs in knots and our brains fully scrambled--it is on to the many great water rides. These range from the mild yet wild water slides to the straight up and crashing down coaster type rides. Now fully soaked and in need of a good drying off---lets go to all the many old spinning rides where the floors drop out or you spin so fast you really do want to loose your cookies.

All dry now? It’s time to wind down. The magic and thrills behind you lets head for the lake, drop a line, and dip your feet. Look back at the park as the evening falls. All is quiet now, the people are gone. All that remains are the shadows of the ride in the moon light. What a beautiful sight. The magic is gone, your heart is back in your chest, but the memories are imbedded in your mind for a life time.
