I have purchased Okinawa ipraise plus when lockdown just opened and I was looking for an ev scooter. That time of planning I asked about Ola to be financed but, it’s delivery time was almost 4 months. Then I found okinawa brand choose the maximum range version which is okinawa ipraise plus. It’s my life’s bad choice to be remembered.
They financed the scooter with rs.27000 and the scooter is available at showroom ready to deliver 16kms from my location. That time I was very happy to receive the scooter. Everything was going just fine, from finance to insurance to receive the vehicle was done superb. I asked about the warranty and the dealer guy said that the battery has 3 year of unlimited kms warranty and the hub motor has 25000kms or 3years whichever comes first. The scooter has 5 free service receipt. There is also RSA service included when purchasing of the scooter with charger of rs.950.
Let’s discuss what happened after that. I continue to ride the scooter everyday after 1500kms the bearings just damaged somehow I contacted the dealer for that and they said book the RSA they will pickup the vehicle from location. After I called the RSA they respond and picked it from my location delivered to a service centre near to my location. The service centre call me and asked what happened they said that the vehicle is under warranty and but bearings will cost you, the service charges are free. I gave consent it was Thursday they said that after finish we will call and you can collect your vehicle. The important things to remember that non of the dealership are connected with others. After 3days my vehicle not repaired and it’s only vehicle I have to go office. After continuous followup the vehicle was repaired and they billed me 950rs for one bearing change. Rather than arguing I paid the price and collect my scooter.
Again 15days gone and the bearings damaged due to water even after its has water resistant seal. Again I have booked the RSA they took my vehicle after oneday. It was delivered to showroom where I was originally purchased it. They called me and said that your bearings will change and it will cost 900rs, I said ok to repair it and deliver it asap. Again the same happened this time both bearings and hall sensor which detects the current flow was damaged. The servicing guy said that it will cost 6000rs to change the sensor because you have warranty it will be done free of cost. I pay only bearings price and received the scooter.
Again the bearings of hub motor gone I go a local garage through my brother which the garage mechanic said I will change it but you have to bring the bearings so I call the service centre they said that we can’t give you have to come with your scooter and we will change it. I was very angry then the mechanic of the garage change the bearings when I bought the original bearings of two cost me total of 545rs. The garage mechanic said that the service centre installed the chinese open bearing which causes damge with little water touch.
The moral of the experience is Okinawa as a brand is worst ev to purchase. All the parts are chinese not even a single parts are locally made. I just lost my 1.25 lakh rupees because of this. Don’t for the brand you will face issue now and then it will frustrate you. The last thing the controller also doesn’t work at best. So be wise stay away from this brand. Only buy ev if you running within city and buy only from brand that hold the trust of the people.
