Hot sultry weather is not anyones idea of a good walking trip anywhere in the plains. It certainly was not mine, however I had a group who wanted an experience so we made our way to the serpentine lanes and alleys of Old Delhi on the afternoon of the 13th.
It was as much a sight for the locals as it was an experience for the group of Britishers who had landed just a short while before. The sight of the Red Fort was awesome. Then we made our way through the main Chandni Chowk road past the shops, temple and gurudwara to take a left turn into narrow crowded lanes. The sounds & smells were a real experience. Winding our way down slowly but surely towards our goal - the one and only - JAMA MASJID.
Walking up the steps to the mosque was lesson in humility but once inside it was worth the effort of reaching there.
Never will I complain about the sounds and smells of Purani Dilli. Loved it.
