IS-50 QD: The All In One Camera...

Hi Folks, I’m back with yet another review. This time, with one of my major accessories which I use very much while riding/driving long distances. I generally visit many scenic places and am a die hard Nature Lover. Yes, I love nature as it is and I think a camera is the only other thing apart from our mind that can capture some of these amazing moments into memory.

Being a Nature lover doesn’t simply mean stand on a green, scenic cliff in highly-overcast conditions where the cloud simply engulfs you on its way past the hills. No, Nature loving means being a good trekker, good photographer and sometimes even, a dare-devil to some of Nature’s possible fury.

When I want to capture good photographs, I wait patiently for the image that I want to capture. With all this, I wouldn’t want a fully automatic camera which is just Rs. 1000/-. Also, when I’m riding, I need a quick shot camera, not an age-old one which takes hours to charge up and minutes to discharge the battery. With so many constraints in mind, I started choosing. I am always a hard-core person who opts for total quality and clarity on pictures. So, I always wanted a film camera. Hence, after too much R&D, the Olympus IS-50 QD was the one I settled upon.

Now, lets see some of the salient features. This camera can be used in various modes including fully auto, semi auto and fully manual modes. With the additional tele-converter lens and filters, this can also be converted into a fully professional camera.

Some of the settings that a good photographer can utilise as he needs are:

Aperture The aperture timing decides how many seconds the film has to be exposed. This way, a darker picture can be shot without too much artificial light compensation.

Diopter The diopteric adjustment makes sure that each user can adjust the view to be clear for the shot.

Exposure The EV compensation can also be used along with aperture timing to get natural pictures to appear clearly. This can also be used to enhance the effect of lighting in a particular photo.

Teleconverter This additional lens with filters can be fitted to this camera to make sure u zoom in a little more than the actual default lens.

This is one camera for people who love photography. It is not for people who are hard-core professional photographers who want to shoot photos like insects or huge sceneries like shown on Discovery channel or Nat-Geo. But seriously, I feel satisfied for the sorta photos I’ve felt I should shoot. Really awesome.
