The movie was a big hit at the boxoffice.It was made on a very verysmall budget and went on to gross 100 million$ worldwide.It performedsuperbly at oscars as it became the first movie that won all the fourmajors.
Story
The story with Randle Patrick McMurphy(Jack Nicholson) beingbrought to the mental hospital in charge of a statutory rape.It isassumed that he has acted crazy delibrately so that he does not has togo to the prison and he can pass of his term in a more comfortableenvironment.As he stays he finds that all the pateints are dominated by
Nurse Ratched(Louise Fletcher).They all fear her and do as shesays.But mcMurphy does not likes to be dominated and do as he likes andalso at different points starts fingering Nurse.He goes on winning thehearts of other patients and attempts to run away as he cannot take thedepressing life there anymore.

1.Performances are superb from the entire cast especially Jack, Louise and Brad.
2.Story is very good and has many layers to it.It makes you laugh, cry and sad at different times.
3.Direction is very good and screenplay is tight.
4.Background is very soothing and effective.

1.Ending is sad.It leaves you to an extent depressed.

Direction, as I have said earlier, is awsome.It keeps the momentum ofthe movie going and never leaves u bored.Screenplay is very tight andconsistent.
Performances
1.Jack nicholson puts his career best performance in the movie.Heis fantastic.He just emotes every emotion of the character withease.His expressions are priceless.His performance makes you feel forhim at the end.
2.Louise Fletcher as the Nurse Ratched is very evil and has done an amazing job.I just felt like killing her.
3.Brad as shuttering Billy has done a very good job and has made his character, which was difficult to play, believable.
4.Others were also very good and put a natural performance.
Overall
Movie is superbly made and is awe inspiring.He has different layersto it.The movie makes you laugh, cry, sad, angry.It is just a fantasticmovie that everyone should watch and appreciate though ending was sad
