“Neighbour’s envy. Owner’s pride” or is it “Neighbours envy. Owner’s Pain” as sarcastically put by its distractors?.
No I did not mean it . Infact I never used any Onida products and hence did not have any opinion on them. Onida has recently come up with a small set of Cell phones in three serieses viz The F- series, the G-Series and the V-series.
I chanced upon an ad of Onida Dual SIM phone F-910 and got interested. I was originally looking for a Dual SIM phone and the options available had been
Samsung D-880 Price Rs.11, 500+
Spice D-80(Dual GSM) Rs. 7000 about and
China un branded(heavily loaded and low priced) Rs 4000- to 6000/-
Onida F-910 Rs. 6900/-(+ 500 for 2 GB Card)
I read several negative reviews about Spice Dual SIM products and also was discouraged by the smaller camera pixels(1.3 MPs?). As for the Samsung D880, it was a bit too expensive that too without high end features like touch screen etc. The reliability and radio exposure safety of these is highly uncertain.
I have been using the Onida F-910 for about 10 days and found it well above my expectations for price below Rs. 7000/-.
Though it doesnot offer all superlatives at an average kind of price the phone is winner on several counts particularly given Onida’s in experience in Cellphone field.
*The Winning Positives are:
*1. Light weight
Very Slim and compact
Sturdy build
Decent TWO MP camera with resolution options and Web cam functionality
Fast Cable connectivity with PC(in a jiffy)
GPRS capability
Most importantly the Dual SIM GSM capability.
USB charging option and
Good MP3 player
Fast execution of menu commands
The Phone has following features that need to tbe aken note of :
It comes with
# Decent 2 MP camera(with adjaustable pic quality options)
# Decent Blue Tooth particularly with Other CellPhones
# Very good basic functioning without hanging etc
# Real Dual SIM ie . calls can be held while you go to other SIM and come back to original caller
# Excellent PC(thro cable) and Blue tooth connectivity(with other cellphones)
# USB charging feature; Nokia phones for example discharge fast under PC connectivity while the USB charge capability in ONIDA actually Charges your phone while you are transferring the contents. This also gives you an option to charge your phone from Laptop while you are on the move.
# Reasonable Pricing.
The Company should probably address the following issues which can play spoil sport with their debut products.
(A few Minuses)
Low Mp3 volume(may not be good enough in noisy environs)
Problems with Bluetooth in PC Connectivity
Not very pleasing PC suite
No speaker Phone
No LED Flash(Otherwise camera is Very good)
Likelyhood of long term keypad problems(just started experiencing one dont know if it is isolated one)
No zooming in Video and limited step zooming in Photo
On line Support isues
As of Now I stand by it and recommend it as a decent Basic Dual SIM phone with a good camera and Good basic functioning at a reasonble price from an "Indian" Topbrand.
I will further use the phone and update the review. Till then Congrats ONIDA.
UPDATE: The Phone has a 1050mAH NimH Battery with Talk time of about three hours and preferably needs charging on Daily basis for Intensive users. Max Two days.
