All that glitters is not Gold

I bought this product in Novemebr 09. I had very high expectation by seeing the advertisements. Showing it can play all the formats and its USB and Memory card reader will make it like unique product.

But after purchase full of dissopointments.

First

Pros

  1. The design is really attractive - I fell for this

  2. Touch panel

  3. DVD reading capability

Cons

  1. Does not have folder structure in the menu. It automatically scans all files and puts in its own single queue. Imaging I have a MP3 DVD with 100 Films and 1000 Songs It is a big pain to play the song I want.

  2. USB support, we have 8 GB USB and I hate to use it on this because of the interface.

The basic Menu even in DVD manufactured in 2000 were Folder based. My Previous one even Allowed me to seperate Movies and Pictures and songs seperately which was manufactured in 2000. The interface in this is pure crap and I dont know how ONIDA allowed it.

  1. It bosted of lot of formats. but it does not play. Even the AVI format it says does not work. Only few files with AVI worked for me. Most of them get stuck and the player jums to next file The same when I play in my system using VLC player works fine. Can’t they even have the simple interface or incorporate it from VLC as it is open source.

  2. I bought this only becuase it bosed about USB and Memory card support and support for several other formats but does not work.

  3. It is slow in rendering also. Few movies this player Played were like in slow motion. OOOOH Now I am planning to change this to the Philips DVD for which you get regualr Firmware updates and it supports most of the formats as it claims.

Hope some one in ONIDA sees this and comes up with some basic FIRWARE update to make this Player usable.

I suggest if you are buying a new DVD player for the following reasons:

  1. USB interface - So that you can use your Pen drive or external hard disk to Play movies

  2. Play songs from Memory card with huge collection

  3. Play different types of files - MPG4, DIVx, AVI, MKV
