I’ve been an online shopper and have shopped from shopclues also among others like flipkart, snapdeal, amazon, ebay, etc. these are the precautions that I take while online shopping
Never buy any clothes from online shops - forget about size, even colors are different what are seen on screen.
Read the return policy up front before making any purchase. When the prices are rock bottom, chances are the products are non-refundable. generally you realize that it is an impossible deal, so it is obvious that the seller is selling some odd lots
Never call up customer service, you are bound to get frustrated for waiting and lame answers. Just login to your account, go to your orders and complete the return request online, it is much faster, quicker and mostly it is successful, also you get a written response from the site, so senior people respond to online return requests.
For shopclues, never buy anything from the flea market, its like buying from chor-bazar:) they are non-refundable and returnable
I’d say you were lucky that they returned some amount to you at least, else you are mostly stuck with the useless product.
Stick to products that are not very costly. So that you limit your losses to that amount only
Most important: Shopclues do not sell products, they are sold by individual merchant, its only a marketplace like janata bazar having hundreds of shops together, so always check rating of the Merchant as well as the Product before making any purchase
Above are true for all online shopping sites, don’t get disheartened by first bad experience, let it act as a trainer, many times you get a pretty decent deal at the comfort of home, so use its power taking all the precautions.
