Not only her sophomore album, but also a sophomoric album in all regards, Britney Spears ....Ooops, I Did It Again represents popular music at its absolute worst. From the cheesy and highly unoriginal title track to Britneys ill-advised cover version of the Rolling Stones classic Satisfaction, ...Oops I Did It Again is a great big bore, offering no new ideas in terms of production, songwriting, or instrumentation.
It is nothing more than a rehash of Britneys equally inane debut album, marketed toward people whose lives thrive on heavy doses of the predictable and routine. Britney Spears has about six more months of superstardom before the general public grows tired of her and turns against her. She will always remain a painful reminder of the happy days of the Clinton administration, before the economy slid downhill, the stock market collapsed, and national morale went into the tank.
As a result, I predict this item will be available at used CD stores for less than one dollar each within eight months time. If for some reason you absolutely need this CD (it makes a great gag gift if nothing else), hold off on buying it until you can get it for bottom dollar. That should be fairly soon as the anti-Britney backlash begins. Look for her to be subsequently re-marketed as a VERY bad girl after that.
