My Dream Place

OOTY

We are a group of friends who keep on wandering here n there every now n then and while wandering one day we landed up somewhere near a place in Tamil Nadu, called Ooty. Had heard about the place lots n lots of times before reaching there, but had never actually seen it before. So, this is what I felt about the place........

REACHING THERE

If you are in Chennai, the best way to reach there is by train upto Coimbatore or Mettapalayam. Yeah, Mettapalayam is a place at the foot of the hills of Ooty. Take a taxi from here or take a toy train upto Ooty. We preferred taxi as we were too tired to board another train. You can also reach by air to Coimbatore n proceed further to

Ooty.

LODGING THERE

There are lots of hotels of all categories, this being a respectable tourist destination. We checked in at one hotel; then changed it the same day, then changed the second one on the next day, like this we enjoyed our week’s stay in some 5 hotels over there. You can always check with your travel agent if you wanna stay in a single hotel.

ATMOSPHERE

C’mmon, its a hill station, do I have to write anything about the pleasant whether?

ATTRACTIONS

So, next day, we hired a local taxi and were on our way to sight seeing. There is something called filmi chakkar; a place covering 5-6 tourist spots where lots n lots of movies have been shot. First one to come on the way was a golf link, where ’Raja Hindustani’ was shot, palm forest where ’Raaz’ was shot, another bridge kinda location, where ’Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ summer camp was shot, a waterfall where ’Roza’ was shot and a lake where we enjoyed boating. Lots of monkeys there; we posed and clicked some snaps with the monkeys. We posed like movie characters at all these locations n shot n clicked a lot.

That was enough for the day, next day a visit to Botanical Garden n Rose Garden was quite fruitful. If you are a nature lover, you would spend full day over here.

Other places we visited included ’Dotta petta peak’ - the highest point where u can see the clouds so close, enjoy horse riding over there n eat icecream.

SHOPPING

I love chocolates, so we purchased lots of home made chocolates; real good ones, tea leaves, many types of oils.......the list is long...........

A good place to visit and has become one of my dream destinations after visiting about 3 hill stations in last one year.
