Hutch- Itemized bill fact

Based on the following lines on Hutch website (i.e. under e-bill section of My bill category), I subscribed for this itemized bill service for one bill only:

’’Your Hutch bill will land in your email inbox as soon as it’s raised! Giving you ample time to make your payment. You can also save it for future reference online. Plus with the itemized bill, you can track all the calls you have made or received on your Hutch phone; with dates, time of call, duration, cost and more.’’

I subscribed for this service because I want to know the details of my incoming calls on my mobile for some personal purpose. Hutch has promised in the lines as above that one can track his incoming calls also in the itemized bill. But, when I received the Itemized bill for the month of May 04 in my mail box, I was very dis-appointed to see that there was no details provided by hutch for incoming calls on my mobile and they were supposed to charge Rs. 19 for this service.

Thus, Hutch influenced me for subscribing for a paid service by providing incorrect information on their website. This is totally against the principles of GOOD CORPORATE GOVERNANCE & GOOD BUSINESS ETHICS & CODE OF CONDUCT. Then, I wrote a mail to hutch and requested them EITHER to provide me the complete details of incoming calls as promised by them OR arrange to remove the charges for this service that they would had levied in my next bill.

I told them that I would not pay this charge unless I get the details of all incoming calls as promised by hutch on their website. I also attached the website contents for their easy reference in my mail. But, even after giving two mails at care@hutchindia.com, I did not receive any reply from them. See how casual these people are in responding customers’ complaints.

They advertise too much about their service, but, the reality is different. Then, I spoke to their executive at toll free no. 200 and complained once again and requested to reply to my mail. After 3-4 days, I received an email as below:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr Verma,

This is with reference to your communication regarding the above mentioned Hutch phone. We regret for the delay in replying to your e-mail. We would like to inform that we are not providing the call details for the incoming calls in the home network from the time the incoming calls became free. However, we are arranging for the rental waiver of Rs 19/- charged towards the e-bill facility. This adjustment would be reflecting in your forthcoming Hutch Phone Invoice. Should you require any further assistance, please feel free to call us at our round the clock Hutch Care by dialing 98110 00002 / 200 (toll free) from your Hutch phone or write to us at care@hutchindia.com. Warm regards Ritu Kaushal Hutch Care Team

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the end, I got satisfied that they agreed to remove the charge of Rs. 19 from my bill. This is not a matter of Rs. 19. This is a matter of false promise by a reputed company, which induces the customers to subscribe for a paid service and they are being cheated by not getting for what they are promised to give. So, my message to all the consumer community is that to fight for their right till end and do not compromise with lesser things for which you have paid full price.
