My entire family is claimed by Oriental Insurance mediclaim, but we just realized what a big fault we have done by signing up for this! My sister was unwell and hence was admitted to the hospital for 10 full days for prolonged fever of unknown cause.
During the settlement of bills, the hospital informed us that the claim has been rejected by the company because they think that the patient has a "pre-existent illness" and had only come for investigation and not for treatment. The treating doctor sent them a reply explaining the symptoms, the tests conducted and the treatment given but in vain.
They did not seem to care! we finally had to pay the entire bill. I then went to their head office where they advised that I fill a form for reimbursement of the claim and submit supporting documents as well. It has been a month and I haven’t got a reply as yet. Please do not select Oriental insurance! you will be only cheated by their fake promises.
