M/s Oven Fresh(https://ovenfresh.in) calls itself the BEST CAKE SHOP OF MUMBAI SINCE 1993. Promises to deliver cakes timely etc at competitive rates in different cities. While one is browsing the portal, a chat box pops up on its own, with a very lively support executive, who promises the earth. But things are not so hunky-dory.
Ordered a birthday cake(Order no. #8705) on 9th December for delivery at Navi Mumbai on 10th December 2015, between 9 am - 6 pm(it was an office address). Cake cost: 880/=, Delivery charges: 160; Total damage: 1040/=. After placing the order through CC, no e-mail or sms for confirmation of the same was received.
On the date of delivery, I kept calling the company about the status of the order. And why no communication was being sent, the call center executives were helpless, but assured that the order will be delivered. However, 6 pm went by, the office closed, but the order was not delivered. At 6.45 pm, on calling support once again, I was informed that the delivery boy had finally reached the venue, and was "talking to someone". Thus the whole purpose of sending a birthday cake during office hours(so the concerned person could share with his colleagues) was lost.
Such type of third-class companies who promise the earth, have flashy websites but are actually shoddy businesses are a menace for the public and give a bad name to online shopping as a whole. They should be taught a lesson via the Consumer Courts.
Latest Update: The company is now offering to refund the delivery charges. Will it bring back the birthday which was yesterday?
