Eyes, nose, skin, and all the rest...

Most people seem to think that’how to take care of your face’ refers to only your skin. That, however, is not true. Your face also contains(gasp!) your eyebrows, eyes, nose, and lips, each of which need to be taken care of in their own special way.

This review provides tips on how to take care of your skin, your eyes, your lips, etc., and also provides some tips that I’ve gathered to fix the most common of ailments.

1. Skin

Unless you’re extremely lucky, you probably have had your share of pimples, acne, and all the rest. They aren’t inherently dangerous, but they do attack your self esteem quite a bit.

To get rid of pimples quickly:

  • Put some toothpaste on it. This sounds really weird, I know, but several professional makeup artists recommend it. Toothpaste contains an ingredient that dries out the pimple, so that it falls off easily. Keep in mind that if you have sensitive skin, you should probably not use this since it might cause some irritation.

  • Use salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is obtained from the bark of the willow tree, and is excellent for use on skin that flares up easily. This article has more information on salicylic acid: https://skincarerx.com/salicylicrx.html

To prevent pimples, aside from the usual dietary advice, you can use mild exfoliants to cleanse your skin. A useful tip if you’re on a low budget or if you just don’t want the fuss of an exfoliant - use sugar. Yep, sugar, not the crystallized type I’ve seen in India, but the regular powdery sugar. It’s great for exfoliating because it has just the right consistency, and dissolves in water, so it is less irritating and causes no allergies. You might also want to keep your hair away from your skin - it prevents flareups.

Other tips for healthy skin - moisturize! Dry skin is bad skin, and seldom looks fresh or healthy. I find that Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion works the best for me - so go and find your own special moisturizer.:)

2. Eyebrows

Getting your eyebrows shaped(tweezing, threading, waxing), is an extremely painful procedure, and often leaves telltale rashes on your skin. The best way to prevent these is to take an Advil or antihistamine before you undergo the procedure. This numbs the pain a bit. If you do get rash anyway, put a light coat of moisturizer on it, then exfoliate the next morning. After a couple of days, the rash should heal.

3. Eyes

As I mentioned in one of my previous reviews, you only have one set of eyes, so take good care of them! Aside from medical treatment, there are aesthetic ones as well. To prevent undereye circles, for example, use tea bags. Soak them in hot water for a minute or so, and then cool them. Then you can put them over your eyes and relax for a while - tea contains ingredients that reduce puffiness of skin.

4. Nose

There isn’t a whole lot you can do to take care of your nose since it is self-cleansing, but one topic comes to mind - blackheads. You can use those blackhead-removing strips, but their effectiveness is quite questionable. Facials, on the other hand, have been known to remove blackheads - so if you feel like getting one, go ahead, pamper yourself.:)

5. Lips

If you have extremely dry, chapped lips, chances are that plain old Chapstick is not going to help you. Get some medicated lip balms like Blistex, QV, and so on - or simply put some aloe vera moisturizer on it. Aloe vera does wonders for cracked skin.

Another thing that comes to mind with lips is the herpes virus. Most people think that herpes can only affect the genet, but in fact, one form of herpes affects the face. You can get open-wound type of sores that are known as cold sores. Once you get a cold sore, they will keep recurring, so to prevent them, make sure you maintain good personal hygiene. Herpes transfers by facilitated contact(so don’t share lipsticks, etc.).

Finally, I’d like to say that there are several traditional remedies for common ailments out there - I’ve even seen a couple of good reviews for them on MS. If you don’t believe in them, however, or don’t have access to them, then hopefully this review will help you. The ingredients/tips I’ve mentioned above are commonly found in department stores, and they really do wonders.

In conclusion, I just want to make a point - does it make you vain to want to take care of your face? Of course not. There is no harm in wanting to look good - it’s an intrinsic human instinct. Just don’t go overboard with it. I definitely don’t think you need to do everything I mentioned above every single day - just whenever you need to. No harm in pampering yourself every once in a while.:)

Also remember that the information in this review is definitely not a substitute for dermatologist advice. In other words, don’t sue me.;)

Hope this helps,
