Its a pity that we Indians always react in groups , vote in groups and vote for groups- thus seldom allowing our individual preferences to surface let alone nourish them. When a film of the Shahenshah is released, the so called Badshah fans gives it a thumbs down and when Ilayaraaja scores music it falls on the deaf ears of ARR fans.
Director Balki has taken on the challenge of making a good film to a hit film with an aged superstar, a talented young actor and a (so far) dumb heroine and has come out with a plausable product. In fact after the hype created, I expected not much of the movie- but rather it came up as a pleasent surpise. Ilayaraaja, the veteran, has shown whats BGM all about and what wonders it can do to a film- PC Sriram should be thanked for providing enough light and proper focus unlike his films with Maniratnam and making the actors atleast clearly visible.
Last Lear missed to win the national Best actor award for AB but iam sure Aron definitely will if the Government is fair- its of course not fair to expect them to be fair with AB given the political climate.Paa may not be a gr8 n flawless movie, yet its a must see movie-just for the sake of saluting the genius called AB.Whether u like it r hate it- this effort of AB will loom large on ur mind for somedays to come- may be till u get to see Run Run----oh its Raan by RGV.
